It's a worrying thought that clothing is one of the biggest polluters on the planet.
The clothing industry releases 1.26 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere every year, accounting for over 10% of global carbon emissions, as well as damaging ecosystems and the livelihoods of those who live nearby. This is why we continue to develop our Tencel range.
Tencel is an innovative material created by turning wood into a natural fibre using environmentally responsible production techniques. It is one of the most sustainable materials out there today and is why we are trying to develop our Tencel range further.
This process creates one of the most sustainable materials on the market today.
The reason for this is the entire manufacturing process is almost entirely 'closed loop', with over 99% of the amine oxide solution recaptured and recycled back in.
The process is also relateively short, taking just 2 hous to produce the finished product.
Due to these green credentials, tencel has earned itself the European Union’s “European Award for the Environment”.
This is why we love it so much and are trying to incorporate it into more of our products going forwards.
